The Email - SMTP Connection Monitored Test checks if your email server is responding properly to SMTP connection requests. This test is performed from a single monitoring location (selected at random) on the specified Run Every period. Both Uptime and Latency are calculated from the result of this test.

Technically, this test is opening a socket connection to your SMTP server on the specified Host and Port, sending the specified Send Text, and verifying that Receive Text is received in the response.
